Quick run down to Penrith to meet Clive (Chris Collins step dad) for some photos, then off again. Met some guys doing it south to north who didn’t have a nice thing to say about the last 2 weeks weather and the loaded up tanks they were riding. This made us feel better and we annoyed them more by speeding off on our lightweight machines.

Beautiful hills either side of the M6 with amazing views, but one in particular towards Kendal was a killer and what made it harder was the icy cold hail towards the top, we must have upset someone up there! Beautiful old YH in Arnside was very socialable and we met an amazing family whose boys were only 9 & 11 and already mad on cycling and doing the end to end un-supported – wow!
