23/8/08. Day 10. Ross-on-Wye to Burnham-on-Sea

77m today, 819m so far, Ride time 5 hrs 52 mins

Tintern AbbeyIn the morning Ed and I set off with Mark G & Dino down through Monmouth and down the beautiful Wye Valley. A great ride in perfect sunshine taking in Tintern Abbey on route.

We left the guys and headed across the old Severn bridge, surprisingly bouncy, over to Avonmouth, Portishead, Yatton and Weston-Super-Mare.

Crossing the Old Severn Bridge Ironically we left the main road to find a cycle track cos it was meant to be safer and Ed got hit by a car. Luckily it was at slow speed so Ed escaped with just cuts and bruises and was tended to by 2 paramedics and breathalysed by the police. When I called Indy to let him know about his son he was also a bit busy getting a clamp removed from his car, what a day so far! We got Ed’s buckled wheel straightened then headed on cautiously. Down to Burnham-on-Sea to stay with my outlaws and spend a nite with my wife’s sister, husband and daughter from America.
